Chocolate Facts
Here are some interesting chocolate facts: Chocolate is now somewhat of a 'healthfood'...especially the dark varieties. Not only does it help with stress, it has rich stores of flavonoids that help lower blood pressure, prevent blood clots, and by raising HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol) chocolates helps improve glucose sensitivity. It's being recognized as part of a heart-healthy diet as well. Chocolate was once revered as a great tonic and respected for its health and spiritual benefits ... this was before it was seen as a 'candy'. (I guess things do go in circles...) Before chocolate was a solid food to be eaten, it was a drink. The ancients Mayans first had chocolate as a drink and used it in ceremonies. |
